After the announcement of Eutelsat of the full entry into commercial service of the W2A satellite which was launched on April 3, Castor confirms it has allocated a 9m Ku-band antenna to the W2A satellite with a Ku-band and K-DBS feed which can both handle Europe/Europe as well as Europe/Africa up and downlink services.
With 46 Ku-band transponders the W2A satellite almost triples resources at Eutelsat’s 10 degrees East position, which is one of the most longstanding locations in Europe and Africa for professional video, data and Internet services.
The transfer of services at 10 degrees East to W2A from Eutelsat’s W1 satellite was carried out successfully in the night of May 18 to 19.
The capacity that entered into commercial service also brings significant expansion for new customers and extends coverage into new regions with high growth potential at a key orbital location. Castor offers a full suite of services on W2A including teleport services, broadcast services, backbone services and iDirect VNO services.
